Didn’t you hear? Being undocumented is hot right now. In the wise words of my friend Yosimar Reyes, we’re taking this shit to Paris. SMH @ American Apparel.

"The obsession with marriage also sanitizes the history of queer struggle. Stonewall was not a wedding, it was a riot, led by the very queers who are now erased from the public image of gay equality. Drag queens, trans people of color, young queers, and butch dykes fought systematic violence and in Sarah Schulman’s words, “[…] arose to change society, to expand rigid gender roles, to break down confining social mores of privatized families and to defy the consumerism that accompanies monogamy and nuclear family lifestyle in the United States."

I actually don’t think that BBU could be more perfect, and if you like rap and don’t already listen to them - you should

wretchedoftheearth:

They write amazing and insightful lyrics but still manage to have great beats.

“We wanted to have a song that covered all the aspects of the working class; and folks of color, sisters, and queer folks that are overlooked within the movement but who are imperative to the movement,” he says. “We wanted to make a song for everyone, but one that still sounded dope.”

I feel creepy because a member of BBU (above) follows me on tumblr, but whatevs you are wonderful

LOL I’m fangirling too! LOL

Please No Pictures by BBU and Das Racist

BBU are a conscious Rap group from Chicago and all of their stuff manages to be both pretty cognitive and still good fun/ an excellent dance (even if they do make you realise and feel shit for your privilege sometimes)

This track is a collaboration from favourites of mine Das Racist, who do a similar thing but maybe with even more fun

Look them both up, BBU’s bell hooks EP is available for free download, go find it

“You know what? You know how many fucking times you guys say cracker on the mixtape? I counted 48.3 times!”

‘Oh that’s all?’

“Jason had a 0.3 in there. How do you say cracker 0.3 times?”

‘Oh I gotta do one, like one whole one instead of point three’.
